The Altona Police Service has released more details regarding this week's break, enter and theft at the Co-op gas bar in town.

Culprits entered the store shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday morning by smashing the glass front door, and stole a large quantity of cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Police now believe these are the same people that broke into the store in early August, making off with cigarettes, lottery tickets and an air compressor.

The suspects' vehicle used in the Thursday morning crime.

Meantime, Altona police are again warning people not to fall for telephone or online scams.

In a release, the agency indicated that fraudsters appear to once again be targetting the area with the 'warrant scam'. This is where victims are told there is a warrant for their arrest and that they can take care of the warrant by making a payment via Bitcoin or money transfer.

If you receive a call of this nature, police encourage you to simply hang up. The public is warned not to engage in conversation or give out any personal or banking information.

Police ask that you report the instance to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
