Police around the region report a quiet, safe Halloween night.

"The evening was relatively quiet with calls to the police service which allowed members the time to be proactive and visible on the streets of our community," Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt says.

He notes with warmer weather more youth and families were outside trick or treating. "With so many kids and parents walking the streets our biggest concern is always their safety and we’re pleased to report that there were no problems."

In Morden, Sergeant Chris Flook says it was a safe Halloween night with no serious incidents. "Our members were patrolling and found the kids to be using safe practices and enjoying the night."

Hunt also reminds parents to check through kids' goody bags to make sure items are in their original packaging and nothing looks out of the ordinary.
