Last week, Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen was seen on social media during I Love To Read month with a teacher from the Prairie Rose School Division holding a sign that was derogatory toward Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The photo was taken down shortly, and the school division's launched an investigation.

Portage-Lisgar Liberal Riding Association spokesperson Ken Werbiski says it sends a bad message.

"We're trying to reduce bullying in schools," he says, "And that's not what's going on here. It's as though our MP is promoting bullying in schools because she is engaged in a bullying activity at a school. It just shows very, very poor judgment on her behalf."

Werbiski wants Bergen to apologize, starting with the prime minister.

"She may not like what he does, she may not like his policies, but there needs to be a basic amount of respect between everyone," he says, "And that's not what she's doing. I would also like to see her apologize to the parents of the children in the Miami School, and I would like to see her apologize to all the students in the Miami School."

Candice Bergen's office was contacted for comment, but as of publishing time Friday morning, we had yet to receive a reply.
