An online survey has been created to gauge the interest in a community garden for Carman.

The town of Carman has included the survey in their water bill, and has posted a link on their website.

Pat Valdman is part of the Evangelism Committee at her church, the Canadian Reformed Church Of Carman West. She said they were looking for a way to reach out in the community that is not already being done.

The committee wanted to create a space in town where neighbours and community members can meet, and thought a garden would be a great way to socialize while being in the outdoors.

"We want it to be a very relaxing community place to be," said Veldman.

"The town's been amazing," she added, referring to a donation of land they were promised by the town.

The size of the land being used for the community garden is yet to be determined, and depends on community interest. Veldman is waiting until mid October to determine the results of the survey. Any money charged for the plots will go directly back into the garden.

"Our first initial thing is we are going to contact businesses in town and see if they'll support it or sponsor it, and then we'll go from there," she said.

The garden is to be located in the north end of the Industrial Park.
