Clean-up continues in the City of Morden after last week's major early season winter storm dropped more than 60cms of heavy wet snow on the community.

In an update released late Wednesday afternoon, until further notice, Morden and Livingston Parks will be closed due to the risk of falling branches and trees, as well as soft ground conditions.

crews will be cleaning up Stephen Street and North Railway this week, clearing sidewalks and hauling away snow.

Stephen, Thornhill, and driveway access have been addressed. Priority is now focused on the 100 to 300 blocks of 1st through 15th Street, 400 block of 10th Street with main arteries to Minnewasta, Maple Leaf, EMMS and Morden Collegiate Schools. Officials are cautioning city residents against parking under, and limiting walking or biking under or in proximity to trees with broken limbs.

Crews will be conducting a city-wide sweep of every street over the next several weeks, and will deal with city-owned trees on private property that were damaged by the storm. If there is damage to privately owned trees, shrubs, etc. that is the responsibility of the property owner. For Morden residents, there is room at the Willcocks Road Compost Yard if you have branches or other yard refuse.

This was supposed to be fall clean up in Morden, however, it has been postponed because of the storm, and will now happen the last week of October.
