The City of Winkler advises it is shutting off water services to residents from 103 -278 first street to complete emergency maintenance on the water main.  This will remain in effect from 9 pm Thursday evening until 6 am Friday, July 24th.

The interruption to the water supply will lead to a loss of water pressure in the distribution system for the area, and that has led the City to issue a precautionary boil water advisory once water service has been restored.

All users in this area are asked to follow boil water advisory precautions once water services have been restored. During this time water should be brought to a roiling boil before being used for;

  • drinking and ice-making;
  • preparing beverages, such as infant formula
  • preparing food;
  • and brushing teeth.

It is not necessary to boil tap water used for other household purposes, such as laundry or washing dishes.

The city anticipates water test results by Wednesday morning, July 29th. Unless otherwise notified, regular water use may begin after this time.
