The Garden Valley School Division recently wrapped up kindergarten registration, and the numbers are on target with projections.

For the 2019-2020 school year, children born in 2014 are eligible to be registered for kindergarten.

Janice Krahn, the division's Assistant Superintendent of Programs and Curriculum, says just over 300 kids have been registered, which is on par with last year.

"At this time of the year we always expect that most of our kindergarten registrations will have come in, and hoping we get the numbers that will give us the indication of what we'll need for staffing for next year," said Krahn. "We do know that there are some families that we're waiting for, and of course, that's up to them if they register or not."

Between now and September, with additional registrations expected, Krahn says the kindergarten class for 2019/2020 will likely be around 350 students.

If parents or guardians have questions about which school to register at, Krahn says they are welcome to contact the division office.
