Two new cases of COVID-19 are being reported in the province Friday, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba to 318.

These latest cases are both in the Winnipeg region. One is a man in his 30's and is travel related. The second, a woman in her 50s, is a close contact of a previously identified case.

Public health officials continue to investigate, as well as monitor 11 active cases in the province.

No one in Manitoba is currenlty hospitalized due to COVID-19, while 300 people have recovered. The number of related deaths remains at 7.

Meantime, new public health orders related to COVID-19 were issued Friday in Manitoba.

The orders are as follows:
• remove restrictions on travel to northern Manitoba and remote communities;
• remove the requirement for people coming to Manitoba to work on film productions to self-isolate for 14 days before entering the province;
• clarify the only sports teams exempt from self-isolation requirements are professional sports teams from Manitoba and remove the requirement for Manitoba sports teams to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to Manitoba; and
• permit individuals who are self-isolating under federal or provincial health orders to visit a family member or friend who has a life-threatening disease in a health-care facility, if the facility permits them to do so and they are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19.

In addition, anyone travelling to northern Manitoba should continue to respect restrictions that have been put in place by local communities and First Nations.

With Canada Day coming up next week, public health is encouraging Manitobans to continue practicing physical distancing and following public health guidelines for gatherings whether at home, the cottage or camping. "If you are travelling, remember to be ‘COVID Careful’ and reduce stops," stated a provincial news release.

As well, Manitobans are reminded to stay home if you feel sick, practice good hand hygiene and cover your cough.
