Council for the R.M. of Morris continues to pursue better high speed Internet service for residents. The Red River Valley School Division is working to install a fibre optic network in the area, and R.M. of Morris Reeve Ralph Groening said officials recently met with the project consultant about local households tapping into that service.

"We need to put a plan together that considers the feasibility of participating and working in collaboration with Red River Valley School Division," he said.

As for pinpointing which communities would see the benefits of this deal, Groening explained that the school division's plans are to have the network going into Rosenort and Lowe Farm.

"So our initial plan would be to include those two communities and then look at options for the areas around those communities, even with the possible construction of towers."

He added that work on this project is set to start this fall.

"We do want to get information that would allow us to be responsive and to be prepared in the event that this is an option to provide high speed Internet service to our community."
