The Manitoba RCMP has had to adapt to COVID-19 but are still doing their best to offer quality service to all communities.

Here’s Assistant Commissioner Jane MacLatchy.

“While how you interact with us may change slightly, I want to assure you that officers are going to continue to patrol communities, respond to calls, and investigate criminal activity across the province of Manitoba. In addition, significant planning is underway to ensure that the Manitoba RCMP can continue to provide you and the communities we serve with critical policing services no matter what the circumstances are.”

Significant planning is underway to ensure that the RCMP can continue to provide care to communities.

Here’s what they ask of the public.

“To help keep our officers on the roads and in our communities, if your matter is not urgent, I’d ask that you not visit any of our detachments. If you need to speak with an officer or if you want to file a criminal report, please call ahead and make arrangments. The officer may be able to take the report over the phone or may direct you to meet with our members at an alternate location.”

They still encourage you to call 911 if you have an emergency, but you will be asked additional questions about your health to protect the health and safety of the officers.

Officers will also be wearing personal protective equipment as a precaution.

“To truly get through this, we’re all going to need to work together. Be kind to one another, take care of those around you, and do everything you personally can to adhere to the recommendations of public health officials. What can I say, these are truly unprecedented times but rest assured, the Manitoba RCMP will be here for you and your communities.”
