A major capital improvement project is taking place at the Carman Golf and Curling Club.

Pro Dean North explains a leaky roof on the curling rink has been replaced and the entire clubhouse is scheduled to be re-shingled. He adds the price tag of the project is expected to come in around $80,000 to $100,000, but notes 90 per cent of the fund raising as already been done.

"We've had some really good businesses and great people help us out...We're very pleased with the way the project has gone and how the community has helped us out and our membership has helped us out with a Rock Handle fund raiser."

North says members are feeling good about the facility now that its got a fresh coat of paint.

"I think it's a real source of pride for the community to have built this place, the golf club and the curling club together, now they've merged and we've done this capital project to improve the place. But we got to give a lot of credit to McGee's Family Restaurant who has really refreshed the inside of the restaurant as well."

North notes that a major renovation like this hasn't been done since the building was built in the late 80s/early 90s.
