Winkler Police officers nabbed a repeat thief who returned to the same store twice in one day.

Police received a report of two individuals who stole merchandise from a local retailer October 23. However, one of the males returned with a different male and committed a second theft later in the day.

The individuals fled the scene on foot but were apprehended by officers at two separate locations.

One of the males, a 26-year-old man from Winkler was arrested for two counts of theft under $5,000, as well as failing to comply with a probation order. The male was remanded into custody to appear in provincial court.

The second male, a 16-year-old resident of rural Winkler was released with a ticket for consuming liquor as a minor and a caution for theft.
