The Municipality of Rhineland is searching for a more efficient way to communicate alerts.

The move follows a boil water advisory earlier this month that affected three utilities in the municipality - the Municipality of Rhineland, the Halbstadt- Marais Water Co-op, and the Altona Rural Water Co-op.

Despite using a variety of online resources like social media to communicate the alert, Reeve Don Wiebe says officials learned after the fact not all affected residents got the notification in due time.

"And there was also confusion as to which utility they were a part of," he added.

As a result, Wiebe says Council will look at things like email, cell phone, and/or landline alerts in order to improve its notification system in the future.
