$2.5 million dollars later, and nearly six months after the original completion date, the ribbon has finally been cut on the new fire hall in Rosenort.

R.M. of Morris Fire Chief, Trevor Dackow, says "it's just amazing. I have never seen anything like this . . . I have never seen a community come together like the Rosenort community has."

"In the ten months I've been here as fire chief, I've seen so many examples of the hard work and dedication, the time, the energy, [and] the financial contributions that the community has made," he says.

Dackow adds, as the communities continue to grow, the new facility - which is designed to last 50 years - will help meet the demand for more firefighters and emergency responders.

The hall is now significantly bigger than it was before and will be a central training facility for Rosenort, Sperling, and Lowe Farm.

Reeve Ralph Groening says council wanted to support the project because it is all about the safety of the people living in the municipality. They also wanted to collaborate with the community to raise the funds, and Groening says it was a successful venture.

"People not only said 'we need something,' but they said 'we need a better public fire safety facility, and this is how we propose with you to make it happen.' They did, we responded, and here it is."

Groening says, everyone should be very proud of the feat they have accomplished. "Remarkable support. Tremendous leadership on the part of community people. I was very proud of the way council responded. This is truly a good story for the community and the R.M. of Morris."

Dackow adds, "it's a long time in development, but now we're done. We've got a fine new hall to serve the needs of our community for many decades into the future."
