The Riverview Golf and Country Club at Morris seems to have turned things around on its operations and is now heading in the right direction.

Club president Kevin Stevenson says they hired a professional cook who is also managing some of the day-to-day operations.

"She has taken over most of the management of the clubhouse, but the greenskeeper has a few responsibilities that he also takes care of. We are also relying on some of our volunteers just to handle some of the day to day things that come up, which seems to be a little more efficient."

In 2015, the operation got into some financial problems where it was in debt to a variety of vendors and it owed Canada Revenue Agency $105,000 in back taxes. Stevenson says they are working with local businesses and the CRA to pay back that money.

To that end, the golf club has booked a fair number of events for this year including a few extra corporate tournaments than in the past, and people coming back to the restaurant because they really like the food, according to Stevenson.

"We've come a long way by just improving the operations, which is a credit to our employees and many volunteers and sponsors who have helped us out. We've been fortunate to have enough people who have stuck with us, and we had a few new people come on board. It's working quite well for us."
