The Rural Municipality of Morris Council is requesting the Manitoba Highway Traffic Board to approve a speed limit increase.

Currently, the limit is 90 kilometres per hour on PR 330 between PR 205 and Road 36N.

RM of Morris Reeve, Ralph Groening, would like to see it changed to 100 km per hour since that portion of PR 330 was hard surfaced last year.

"We think it makes sense that the entire road, because it's now all paved, could be 100, to be consistent with the remainder of the road," said Groening.

Most of PR 330 from Road 36N to Perimeter Highway, with the exception of some urban areas, has a speed limit of 100 km per hour.

A timeline for the speed limit increase is yet to be determined.

"It would be dependent on the Province of Manitoba and perhaps the Highway Traffic Board for accepting our resolution and accepting our recommendation and request for an increase in the speed limit," Groening added.
