RM of Stanley Reeve Morris Olafson has won a Central District director position with AMM (Association of Manitoba Municipalities).

He says it's an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the Provincial government and advocate more effectively on behalf of the region.

"We're talking about a tenth of Manitoba in our region, and taking our concerns in, which are almost all the same," Olafson says. "We're faced with lagging dollars for infrastructure and program changes that come about and you wonder why."

"You have to expound on your needs just that much better or forcefully to get some extra funding out here," he adds.

Olafson says AMM is an effective advocacy body and brings credibility to municipal lobbying.

"Hopefully I'll do some good in there and bring our views from the area to the forefront."

Olafson joins Winkler Mayor Martin Harder on the board of directors.
