Support continues to roll in for the new fire hall in Rosenort with the recent donation of $5,000 from Reider Corporate Insurance Solutions. The Winnipeg-based, family-owned agency has a local office in the community of Rosenort.

Managing partner, Shane Reider, admits there hadn't been much thought given to supporting the facility until members of the Rosenort Fire Hall Committee approached the business.

"We decided that it seemed to fit very well with us," explained Reider. "Our whole business is about helping people in their time of need, and the fire hall is really a bunch of volunteers that give their time to help people in their time of need, so it seemed like it was a no-brainer."

He added the people that work at the Reider office in Rosenort are all from the community and were very supportive of this donation.

"We believe in trying to make sure that we're supporting the community that is supporting us."

Thursday's cheque presentation was followed by a tour of the new fire hall. Reider says it was during this time they learned that about 95 per cent of the calls for service that come in to the department are to help people familiar to the members that are responding.

"That's a very complicated and difficult thing to do, and to be willing to do that you have to put your hat off to those volunteers," he noted.

Reider added he was also impressed by the community's drive to build the new facility.

The $2.5 million dollar fire hall project was initiated through the community and funded through local donor money, general R.M. of Morris donations and municipal taxes. It is designed to last the community 50 years in to the future, and the larger square-footage will provide a central training facility for fire departments Rosenort, Sperling, and Lowe Farm.
