Around $20,000 was raised at the inaugural Morden fundraising Steinbach Bible College (SBC) Golf Tournament held at Minnewasta Golf and Country Club Tuesday. The College has held tournaments in Steinbach for the past seven years, but with more students continually coming from the Pembina Valley region, it was a great opportunity for

"We have about ninety golfers for our first time out here, which we are really excited about. We had set a goal to get about forty golfers out here and were blown away by the response," explained tournament organizer Ben Dueck.

SBC President Rob Reimer noted the Steinbach golf tournament has been usually sold out about two months in advance and wanted to be able to offer a chance for people who may not know about, who want more information, and or just want to come support what SBC does a chance to help locally.

"Most of the funds will go toward student bursaries and endowments," said Reimer.

Not only was this tournament a fundraising opportunity, but also had the goal of increasing the awareness of the school and what services they provide. Dueck said roughly 15-20% of their students are from the Pembina Valley area, which helped chose the location of the second tournament of the year.

The College is looking into hosting the same tournament again in Morden next year.
