Winkler public works crews are in full snow clean-up mode and are expected to finish Tuesday night.

Crews were clearing roads since early Monday morning.

Director of Public Works Pete Froese says the wet snow is proving challenging, "it's really heavy... it's tricky but it's working."

Though the snowfall warning ended for the region just after 3:00 p.m Monday, Froese says some roads will have to be redone since first clearing them Monday morning.

The Sunday to Monday Colorado Low is one of few heavy snowfalls this winter.

"It's been a good year... we went out a couple of times with minimal amount of equipment, it's been a very quiet winter," Froese says.

While easy on the budget, he notes the city could use the moisture for sports fields, ponds and the golf course.

Winkler Fire Chief Richard Paetzold reminds residents of the danger of over exertion while shovelling snow.
