A spokesperson for Southeast Sno-Riders say snowmobile trails here in the southeast came through last week's mild, wet weather in decent shape. Dave Boutang says trails are hard and rutted in places but came through surprisingly well.

"We've groomed up to Marchand from Woodridge up to the Brokenhead River. The Brokenhead River, we had a problem there, the river was open. We've built some sort of a bridge over that. It's well signed; be careful. We've gone to the U.S. border, South Junction, we've gone down Trail 263, the one through Piney, that's all groomed and in good shape."

Boutang says they have not yet groomed Trails 29 and 66, formerly known as the Tin Pan and CanAm trails. He adds they hope to complete those by Monday night. Boutang says the rain last weekend put a crust on the snow but adds, as long as sledders ride according to the conditions, it should be a good weekend on the trails.

"Wherever we've groomed, we've been able to cut that crust off. We've survived this pretty good I would say, other than that it's rutted and frozen hard as a rock."
