Back in October, the Municipality of Montcalm held a public hearing in reference to the community's current lagoon. The fifty-year old facility currently sits below flood standards and is under capacity for current provincial regulations, posing environmental safety concerns along with many others.

The proposed project is estimated to cost $3.5 million, with fifty percent to be covered by the Federal government, twenty-five percent by the Provincial government and with the Municipality of Montcalm responsible for the remaining twenty-five percent.

The new facility would require some residents and businesses to install or upgrade their current sump pumps and pits. Reeve Derek Sabourin says the cost of these upgrades is included in the overall budget.

"This is all a part of the cost of the project. If you don't need it, you're not going to get a saving and if you do need it, it's not going to cost you any more."

The Municipality has sent out notices to residents to book times for the municipality to inspect what each house will require.

"Right now it's gathering information so we can formulate a plan to be as accommodation as we can and to get this done right."
