A young boy is recovering after his arm was trapped in a potato harvester.

At around 4:30 p.m on Thursday, STARS Air Ambulance report they were dispatched to a farming accident 5 km South of Morden.

The STARS helicopter landed on a rural road adjacent to a farm field where the patient was trapped.

Morden firefighters dismantled and cut away the farm equipment to extricate the boy's arm.

Once free from the equipment the patient was flown to Health Sciences Centre helipad before being taken to the Children's Hospital Emergency Department.

STARS representatives say the patient required rapid transportation due to the nature of the injuries.

Early reports suggest the boy is recovering well.
