Three days of school closures last week has caused some frustration for Border Land School Division staff and students getting ready for high school exams next month. Superintendent Krista Curry says however, everyone understands that when mother nature is involved and creates the type of storm we had, the extra day taken to clear the country roads is needed.

She adds high school classes will continue and students and teachers will refocus knowing they have some work to make up in the upcoming days.

"If we can go through the rest of the season with limited interruptions we should be good."

And while Curry points out that there have been some winters where schools were closed for upwards of ten days between storms and wind chills, officials really hoping the rest of winter will cooperate with the school calendar.

She notes the storm last week also impacted practice time for many school Christmas concerts. The W.C. Miller service was cut from Thursday and Friday to just Friday which was disappointing for some, but Curry says those who could not attend were able to live stream the show.
