Tuesday was a big day for Winkler as music group, The Color, presented a Gospel Music Covenant Award to the City.

The band recently took home the Video of the Year award for their video project 'What I Would Say To You' that focused on the difficult life circumstances of three families in the community.

Jordan Janzen, vocalist of the group, presented the award to the city and said it wouldn't have been possible without the community.

"We want to thank the City of Winkler, the communities, the surrounding area, the Pembina Valley for being involved and  for getting on board, and  supporting 'The Color' for all these years, it's really been tremendous," he said. "It's very exciting to see not only is it making a difference here in the community, but actually affecting peoples' lives all across Canada."

Mayor Martin Harder received the award on behalf of the city and shared some words of thanks to the band for creating this project and sharing the stories of light in the darkness.

"On behalf of the City of Winkler, we are honored to be able to receive this award on your behalf and keep it here for you. We want to treasure that, and we want to make sure that more people can see it and say 'What is that all about?' and we can share the story again," Harder said.

The band also won a GMA for Pop song of the year, and Recorded song of the year for their song 'What I Would Say To You'

The Color is currently planning for their next tour to the east coast this fall.
