Kids will be filling up bags with treats tonight as they go door to door trick or treating.

Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak encourages everyone to be vigilant, keeping a close eye on the little ones making their way door to door.

"For people that are driving around, not only parents driving their kids from house to house but vehicles in general, we ask that you slow down, take your time on the streets, as they will be very busy." Neduzak notes kids will be running from house to house across the street, and they are not always looking for traffic.

"So we ask, as a driver, to be very cautious."

For kids, Neduzak says it's important to stay on sidewalks, where there are sidewalks, and keep off the road as much as possible. He says if there are no sidewalks, stay as close to the curb as possible.

With a lot of costumes being dark in colour, Neduzak also encourages trick or treaters to wear something reflective with their costume or carry a flashlight to make themselves more visible.

Meanwhile, Neduzak reminds parents to take a few moments to go through their children's treats before they dig in to ensure nothing has been tampered with. Neduzak said they have never had any such incidents, but it's still best to take the time to examine your child's candy.
