A local business lost a large amount of merchandise last week after a break and enter.

Winkler Police Service is investigating a theft that took place at a business on Foxfire Trail. Police say alarms went off shortly after 10:00 p.m on November 29. Thieves were able to gain unlawful entrance before stealing a significant number of cell phones. Police say suspects were in and out of the store in under 60 seconds.

Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt says it's always a reminder to keep valuable merchandise stored in such a way that it's not easy for criminals to access.

The investigation is ongoing with several leads.
