Thousand Oaks Ministries hosted their 29th Annual Thousand Oaks Gospel Camp over the weekend in Winkler.

James Elias, a member on the Board of Directors, notes performers from all over Canada and the United States were featured this year at the Winkler Park & Exhibition Grounds, including the Freedom Singers from B.C, and the Mullet Family from North Carolina.

"We've had a wonderful year. In Winkler, this is a record crowd," said Elias. He notes there were about 3000 people on Sunday afternoon alone.

Thousand Oaks Ministries Inc. is a non-profit organization which began in 1990 in a coffee shop.

Several residents from the Plum Coulee area got together to share and enjoy music at the local coffee shop. However, due to overwhelming interest, the music nights grew to bi-weekly concerts in Winkler at the P.W Enns Centennial Concert Hall.

The Thousand Oaks Gospel Camp event sees many people pitch a tent for the weekend to experience the line up of more than 16 bands and singers from across North America.
