Participants displayed their strength and endurance during a charity event Saturday in Winkler in support of a six-year-old girl fighting a huge battle. A Push for Tenley was held at The Muscle Hut to raise money for the Cancer Care Foundation of Manitoba in support of the young girl.

In January of 2016, Tenley Falk was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and been undergoing treatment since. "When we found out the diagnosis we immediately

Falk describes Tenley as a joyful, enthusiastic girl who loves to sing, dance and play with her three sisters.

Participants of the charity event were given 5 minutes to push a sled weighing 150 pounds up and down a 50-foot length turf.  For each 50 feet, a minimum donation of $5 was pledged.

"We always talk about strength and getting stronger, physically and mentally.  But at the end of the day when you compare that to a six-year-old battling cancer there's no bigger strength than that," said Kurtis Fox, owner of The Muscle Hut.  "Just the parallel there, the strength obviously that's she's showing the whole family...it's huge.  It's inspirational to watch the strength that they have, so it's a great opportunity to be able to help out the Cancer Care Foundation of Manitoba."

Falk explained that leukemia is the most well-researched childhood cancer, it's also the most commonly diagnosed, and it's also most prominent for ages 4-9.  Falk said because of the research that's been done for leukemia, there is actually about an 85% cure rate.  "So we are just planning to simply get through the next year and look back on this as part of our story, and nothing more than that."

$7,150 was raised Saturday in support of Tenley, a total Fox said may go up yet as further pledges come in.
