After a government funding announcement that was made in April, the Municipality of Montcalm is moving forward with a new $3-million lagoon for St Jean. Council has been working on the project for some time, knowing that if the upgrade was not made to the lagoon it would halt future development in the community.

Reeve Derek Sabourin said right now the challenge is figuring out where the force main is going to go.

"whether it will run on the west or east side of the dike through town, right now we are just figuring out what the best option is. The main thing is that the project is moving forward."

Sabourin added that the project will be going out to tender within the next week.

"Once the force main issue is resolved the work will commence, it's a go everything will be started this year. Ideally, we will start in June with completion coming towards the end of the year."

Sabourin went on to say that the public can help out by being cautious and aware that there is construction happening in town, giving them the space they need to finish the job.
