Morden-Winkler Tim Hortons donated over $9,000 to the Morden-Winkler Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS).

Owner of Morden-Winkler Tim Hortons Jeff Doerksen, explains every September they run the ‘Smile Cookie Campaign’ where customers buy a $1 cookie with proceeds going towards a local charity.

"100 percent of the proceeds go to the Winkler and Morden Chapter of BBBS, which we've been working with for 14 years now. They've been a great partner and we're extremely proud to say we've donated over $68,000 since we started."

Doerksen and his wife Linda chose to support BBBS because of the work the organization does in the community as well as the help they give choosing campers for ‘Camp Day’.

Michael Penner is the Executive Director for BBBS Winkler-Morden. Penner says the financial aid of Tim Hortons is a valuable asset.

"They are a very important part of our mission, not just financially but by giving kids an opportunity to go camping. We've seen some fabulous stories coming out of that, of kids growing through that camp experience. Financially their support is invaluable, we can't do what we can without them."

Last year BBBS supported 94 kids and youths through their many different programs and is continuously growing.

The money raised by Tim Hortons will be used to help find mentors for the waiting 35 kids, as well as supporting their current mentors and kids.
