Two people are facing meth-related charges following a high-risk takedown Tuesday in Plum Coulee.

Police found about 10 grams of meth worth $1,000 inside the apartment. Submitted photo.

Around 11:30 a.m., members of the Altona Police Service along with the Regional Support Tactical Team executed a search warrant at an apartment on Main Avenue. Because officers had information that a firearm was being illegally stored in the apartment, the RSTT was sent in to apprehend the 36 year old man inside.

The apartment block was largely evacuated before the takedown, and police advised administrators at Plum Coulee School of the activity going on in the event that lockdown would be needed.

While searching for the rumoured firearm inside the apartment, police found about 10 grams of methamphetamine worth nearly $1,000. No firearm was ever found in the unit.

A 37 year old female occupant of the apartment had detained during an earlier traffic stop.

The two individuals were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth. They have been released on a promise to appear in court in December.
