A three-month-long drug trafficking investigation by Winkler Police Service resulted in the arrest of two male suspects earlier this month.

Winkler police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot in Winkler. Police searched the vehicle and found 38 grams of cocaine and a quantity of cash.

A 21-year-old male from Blumenort and a 16-year-old from the Winkler area will both face drug possession and proceeds of crime charges.

Both will appear in Morden provincial court later this year.

Online fraudsters continue to find more victims in our area. Winkler police report a female lost some cash after trying to sell an item online.

A buyer emailed her a bank draft for an amount much larger than the item’s asking price. The buyer requested the female e-transfer the extra money back for pick-up arrangements, which she did.

The buyer then requested she send the same amount of money a second time, but the transaction did not go through after her bank notified her of the scam.
