Make Dreams Come True, Olympic Edition, is this year's Bowl For Kids theme.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters annual fundraiser is one the organization depends on financially, said Executive Director Michael Penner.

On March 24, participants are encouraged to wear their Team Canada apparel or dress up as their favourite athlete or sport, while bowling for a good cause.

Teams of 4 can sign up now to reserve bowling spots between 10:00am - 4pm.

Penner hopes there will be close to 40 teams participating, noting it's the biggest fundraiser of the year for the organization, with a goal of raising $35,000.

"I think the reason for the success is the communities behind it," said Penner, noting many people come year after year.

He added there will be various types of bowling games, prizes, a silent auction, and a photo booth with themed props.

"We're encouraging everyone to dress up either in their Team Canada apparel or come as your favourite sport," said Penner.

Penner said Big Brothers Big Sisters is currently looking for more volunteer mentors, and noted there are kids on the waiting list right now.

"It's astounding how just... a little bit of time spent with a mentor will change a life and increase their self confidence, and they do better in school. They have healthier relationships overall."

He added the time commitment can vary depending on your schedule.

"We ask for a minimum of a year commitment, and it can be done in as little as an hour a week depending on the program," Penner said.

Winkler Mayor Martin Harder will also be showing his support at the bowling event in March.

"I think the organization provides a tremendous stabilization factor within our community," said Harder.
