Roland Fire Department was called out to a barn fire Saturday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. southeast of town.

According to Chief Don Roy when crews arrived the structure, which was approximately 40 feet by 50 feet in size, was fully engulfed. Along with the assistance of the Miami Fire Department, crews continued an offensive attack protecting surrounding structures. The blaze was contained to the original barn, which was a total loss.

It was used for storage, and no animals were housed inside.

The cause has been determined to be drifting embers from a wood fire the owner had started nearby.
