Morden Police have provided more information on a vehicle fire that occurred on May 26.

Last Saturday, members of the Morden Police Service assisted Morden Fire and Rescue with a vehicle fire on Mountain St. at the north end of Morden. Police say the driver was travelling into Morden when his vehicle caught fire. He was able to exit before calling 911.

However, the 1972 Chevy Corsair had not been put in park and collided with another vehicle travelling in the same direction.

The burning vehicle continued to travel southbound towards a residential backyard when Morden Fire Chief Andy Thiessen quickly used his vehicle to ram the burning vehicle off the roadway so it would not reach the residential area nearby. Police blocked traffic while firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

There were no injuries as a result of this fire but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
