The leadership for Western School Division has struck a balance between incumbents and new trustees.

Brian Fransen returns as Chair and Robyn Wiebe as Vice-Chair, while the board welcomed two new members David Guenther and Darcy Wolfe. Barb Petkau returned to serve as a trustee.

"We have a fresh start with a new board," Fransen says, adding there are a lot of great things happening in Western School Division, "which is a testament to the dedication of our staff and leadership teams to developing people who are rooted in
caring and committed to learning."

Incumbent Robyn Wiebe notes the board will review its plan over the next year and prepare for the future.

"I’m looking forward to the process of hearing from our community, staff, and students as we take a fresh look at our Board Priority Plan and refresh our course," she says. "Local voices give local choices and our schools are a great reflection of the work we do together."

Fransen adds elections give the board the opportunity to re-shuffle which committees they will be serving on for the next term, giving everyone a fresh perspective.

Committee assignments for the coming year include Darcy Wolfe and Robyn Wiebe on the Liaison committee, Barb Petkau and Brian Fransen on the Negotiations committee, David Guenther and Barb Petkau will form the RRTVA committee, Brian Fransen and Darcy Wolfe the Governance committee and David Guenther and Robyn Wiebe will head up the Communications committee.
