Winkler's campsites continue to be an attractive option for people coming through the city.

Being near the core of the city and close to the aquatic centre, Recreation Programmer for the City of Winkler Jordan Driedger explains the site is an appealing place for travelers.

One family in Winkler is holding a family reunion at the site this long weekend with family from Western Canada coming down for BBQ, to catch up, and experience what Winkler has to offer.

However, Driedger says people aren't just coming from Western Canada.

"From all over Canada really. We have a lot of people come from out West, visiting family or just traveling. There are also people taking their RVs to Triple E, so they're coming from as far as Florida, Alabama, or even Arizona."

The sites saw increased activity in June, attributed to the favourable weather, with numbers slightly down in July.

"We have three big weekends coming up this August," says Driedger. "Obviously there's this long weekend, there's a number of bookings already. Harvest Festival is the first weekend to fill up. With Corn and Apple, many people trying to get out of the traffic in Morden, so they'll come stay at our campground."

Winkler's campground has maintained similar numbers over the last couple years and continues to attract people from across North America.
