The Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce is welcoming a number of new faces on the board of directors.

It presents an exciting challenge, Chamber President Kori da Costa says.

The Chamber received ten applicants for the ten-member board and welcomed five new members.

"We're so excited people want to be a part of the chamber," she says, adding they've lost a number of seasoned members, and welcomed more young people.

"We're hoping to acuire knowledge from the past president, but it's exciting to have young people wanting to be a part of this," da Costa says. "Young people are eager and have new, fresh ideas... we'll all be working together and learning."

Looking ahead, the Chamber has put aside money to pursue more business advocacy initiatives. Last year the Chamber worked with members to create a social media video campaign raising concerns surrounding the Federal Government's proposed small business tax changes.

"It's amazing how quickly we all came together... in a matter of two weeks we had people willing to do their videos," she says.

da Costa says membership continues to grow with over 350 members looking for the support, education and programming the Chamber provides.
