Drivers likely won't see their blood pressure spike navigating the narrow confines of the South end of 15th Street. Winkler Mayor Martin Harder says they hope to widen the street and eventually remove the redundant sidewalk on the West side.

"The sidewalk on the right-hand side is really pretty useless, so there may be a possibility there of widening the road... so you don't need to be worried you'll hit someone's mirror."

The city's Transportation Committee also switched parking to the East side to avoid congesting residential driveways.

The change took effect on 15th Street, South of the rail crossing to Pembina Avenue.

Harder says the widening of 15th Street south of the rail crossing would likely be pushed to 2018.

The city hopes to remove the redundant sidewalk on the West side of 15th St. from Mountain Ave South to Pembina Ave.
