A winter storm warning has been issued for the Pembina Valley.

Residents are cautioned against heading out onto the roads Friday evening and into Saturday as a winter storm is expected to pummel the area bringing visibility to near zero at times in heavy, blowing snow.

Total snowfall amounts are estimated at 10 to 20 cm. Strong northwest winds are expected to develop Friday evening and into Saturday with gusts up to 70 km/h. Combined with falling snow visibility on highways is expected to be near zero at times.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve Saturday evening.
