Friesen said business owners are welcome to call or stop by the office to place job orders. He said the service is not just for businesses, however. "It's for home owners, and private citizens who are looking for a little bit of help around the house, whether it's lawn mowing, or weeding or maybe help with moving. The job centre is place you can come, put in a job order, and hopefully I can line you up with a youth."

"I always say to the youth and the kids coming in that any kind of work experience, whether it's volunteer experience or paid work experience, it always looks good on a resume," said Friesen. "Working with a job centre is a very valuable experience."

Friesen said a number of events introduced last year were very successful therefore, he plans to keep things very similar this year, with the exception of adding some additional barbecue events at the mall. He says he's hoping the success of the 2016 programs will carryover into this year. "I'm also going to want to get plugged in with a couple of the Altona minor ball tournaments this summer. We facilitated one barbecue last year and it was a huge success there."

Winkler Youth Engagement Leader Esther Schwarzkopf explains even if applying for your first job employers are looking for volunteer work and community involvement on a resume.

It can include playing on sports teams or helping out at fundraisers.

"Employers are really interested in seeing how involved you are," she says. "And having those events on your resume is really helpful."

Another tool for first-time job seekers is the free Job Certificate Program offered out of the youth job centre, which Schwarzkopf notes proves to employers you've learned the basic skills be become a successful employee.

The Carman Youth Job Centre is once again open for business. From Odd Job Squad opportunities, to part-jobs, and help with resume writing, those are some of the services again being offered at the youth job centre in Carman.

Youth Engagement Leader, Kylie Nicolajsen said youth and employers are encouraged to stop by, or phone to find matches for work or workers.

In the Carman region, it's the yard work and lawn mowing jobs that are the most popular. "They really do make a great first-time job for youth over the summer," Nicolajsen. "There have already been jobs posted, so make sure to register with the centre and take advantages of these opportunities. It truly is a great way to gain work experience and make some money."

Nicolajsen noted employers in Carman are very familiar with the services offered by the M.Y.J.C. and they like to give youth work and volunteer opportunities.

Individuals between the age of 12 and 29 can use the centre's services, however, Nicolajsen says she mostly sees middle school students using the services. "It is important to remember that older students can use the centre too. They can make an appointment or drop by at anytime if they need help with finding a job, networking, or fine-tuning their resumes."

Carman's Youth Job Centre is located on the 3rd floor of the Carman Memorial Hall.

Young people in Morden have already been hired by people looking for eager employees to do a plethora of jobs.

"They could do some lawn mowing, some window washing. If they go to businesses, they could get hired as a full-time or part-time position. Really they could do anything; it caters to all interests," said youth engagement leader with the Morden Youth Job Centre, Natasha Penner.

Penner sees Morden as a giving community, and the employers coming through her door want to help the youth looking for work to have a chance further their career options.

"Morden works very well to make each organization prosper," she said.

Young people signing up with the Morden job centre don't need any special skills, only a motivation and excitement to enter the work-force. An open house and info night is taking place on June 7th 4-6 p.m. at the Morden Chamber Commerce building 379 Stephen St.
