Congratulations to Trent Crane who is our Sports Star Of The Month for May!
"I just want to say thanks, because it's hard to win," said Crane. "Ya, I led a lot of tournaments in points, but you have to work hard for that."
Crane scored 14 times and recorded 21 points in five games during the Manitoba Provincial "AA" Pee Wee boys hockey tournament. He and the rest of his Winkler Flyer teammates made it all the way to the championship game, but lost 10-4 to the host Portage team and came home with a Silver. During these five games at Provincials Crane did his best to keep his team playing five-on-five hockey and didn't' take a penalty.
"I have good teammates and they move the puck to me, and you just have to move it back and hope they get the point," said Crane when asked about his twenty-one point performance at Provincials.
While playing hockey he also juggles Manitoba Summer Games soccer where he is a goalie, competing for a spot on the Manitoba Summer Games Golf team, playing Winkler "AA" baseball, playing with the Regina Sting "AAA" spring hockey team, is working at being a part of the Parkland track team, and participates in a number of school sports.
"It's really because of my mom," said Crane. "She has my schedule, and I rely on her to get all of those dates ready and stuff."
According to Crane, hockey is his favourite sport to play, and would like to play in the NHL in the future.
"I have to work harder for that, and have to get more goals and more assists, and make good plays," said Crane.
At the end of the day Crane tossed the credit to his teammates.
"The reasons I get all of these assists, is because I want to make my teammates better,'' added Crane.
