Winkler City crews were out until 2:00 a.m Friday morning fixing a ruptured water line.

Pete Froese, Director of Works and Operations, explains crews were doing a full replacement of the sewer main along North Railway when the service line was nicked. The line has been stabilized.

Driving around the city residents will see a number of construction projects in progress including the road alignment at Boundary Trail, north of PTH 14. Froese explains the work will open up the median to allow vehicles to cross over. He notes it became a bigger job than first expected after learning they would have to move a hydro pole. Work is scheduled to finish before Harvest Festival weekend.

Other projects include upgrades to the Winkler Arena entrance, unseen work such as sewer relining and manhole maintainance, as well as concrete work east of Eastview Drive in the new industrial subdivision.
