Spring has sprung in Altona

Spring has sprung, and that means Altona's Public Works teams are out doing some spring cleaning.
    
Mayor Harv Schroeder says the Town's new street sweeper has arrived and has already hit the streets.

"We've (also) got many people asking, when are we going to start seeing boulevard clean-up? Our Public Works team will begin as soon as possible," he emphasized. "We're just waiting for the ground to dry up enough so that we don't make ruts and have to go back and fix things. Just gotta be a little patient."

Additionally, regular seasonal sewer flushing is also on the agenda. That process will look a bit different than in the past, added Schroeder, and he urged the public to keep an eye for crews. 

Meantime, the community is being offered a chance to help with the Town's spring clean-up efforts. 

"We're looking for a youth group or a youth group team that wants to organize clean-up efforts on properties around the landfill," explained Schroeder, referring to areas that catch some of the refuse that blows away from the collection depot located north of town. 

He noted, all necessary equipment will be provided.
