Employees at Altona's largest employer are throwing their support behind childcare in the community.

Through its Employee-Directed Giving Program, Friesens Corporation has cut a cheque for $7,031 to the Kiddie Sunshine Centre. Each employee voted for which local organizations they felt would benefit the most from Friesens' charitable giving. The donation amount is correlated to the number of votes the recipient organization received.

“Availability of childcare is a key component to the health of our community and the health of our company. As a community-builder, we are excited to support Kiddie Sunshine Centre," said CEO Chad Friesen.

One of Friesens' core values is to help build a stronger community, stated a company news release. "We invest in the community through both cash donations and by supporting our employees as coaches, youth leaders, fundraisers, and many other important volunteer roles."

Friesens Corporation sponsors numerous initiatives every year from the local level to the national level with a focus on literacy, culture, education, environment, history, care, and recreation.
