The RM of Rhineland wants a safety study conducted on the rail crossing at Horndean.

The RM pays a fee of about $200 a month to CP to maintain the lights at the crossing.

CAO Mike Rempel says the municipality wants to know if those lights are still needed.

Rempel says the traffic study would help determine road and rail traffic at the crossing.

The study will cost about $5,000.

The RM has approached CP Rail with a request to cost share the study.
