CAA would like to remind drivers that because of summer vacation there will be increased children traffic.

Spokewoman Jeanie Dalman says drivers should slow down by parked cars, be mindful of school zones and look for signs of possible children present.

Dalman adds because children have one third the peripheral vision of an adult they have an increased chance of not seeing oncoming traffic out the corner of their eyes.

Children are also vulnerable because of their size they become less visible, they become easily distracted and cannot make sound judgements.

Dalman advises that parents sit down and explain road safety and remind children what certain signs mean.
