Central Energy U15 goes 2-0 in Doubleheader

Mya Richard collected three hits in three at bats, as Central Energy U15 defeated Smitty’s Terminators 15U 11-2 on Sunday at Ray Fennel Park in Winnipeg. Richard tripled in the second inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Energy scored seven runs on multiple hits in the second inning on the way to victory. Shyanne Goertzen earned the win for Central. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. Sanderson led things off in the circle for Smitty’s Terminators 15U. The starting pitcher surrendered 10 hits and 11 runs (10 earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking two. Addison Nikkel threw one and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Central Energy in relief. The lefty surrendered two hits, striking out three and walking none. Central accumulated 10 hits in the game. Ella Conrad and Goertzen each drove in two runs for the Energy.

Game 2 of the double header saw Conrad collect three hits in three at bats, as Central Energy defeated Smitty’s Terminators 20-0. Conrad doubled and singled in the first inning and added another single in the third inning. Central Energy U15 2024 jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Conrad singled, scoring one run. Then Taryn Toews, Zoey Shantz, Taylor Wall and Goertzen all drew walks which scored runs. Conrad later doubled, scoring two more runs. Central added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Nikkel singled, scoring one run, and Richard doubled, scoring two runs. Central further extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Toews and Shantz. Then, the Energy exploded at the plate scoring seven runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Sinead Convery singled, scoring one run, Toews singled, scoring two runs, a wild pitch scored one run, Shantz grounded out, scoring one run, and Kennedy Funk doubled, scoring two runs. Nikkel earned the win for Central. The lefty gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking none.


Central Energy 13U Drop Two Against Westman Magic

Central Energy couldn't keep up with U13 Westman Magic and fell 10-3 on Friday at Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park in Portage. Kylie Wiebe stepped in the circle first for Central. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and five runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking four.

Beaudry English provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Energy with two runs batted in on a hard hit double, going 1-for-2 in the game. She also pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 hit and whiffing one. Cassandra Lanthier came in to finish the last 0.2 inning, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2.

Game two of the day vs Westman Magic 2024 ended in 15-7 loss which included a 6 run third inning for the Magic. Lindsay French started in the circle for Central. The righty gave up three hits and six runs (four earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking

three. Collins Vrooman had a brief time in the circle, pitching 0.1 innings while allowing 3 hits. Cassandra Lanthier also pitched, going 2.2 innings and allowing 3 hits and fanning 6 batters. She also led the Energy with two hits in two at bats.

Strong Hitting Not Enough as Central Energy U13 Falls to Smitty's Terminators

Even though Central Energy U13 collected six hits to Smitty's Terminator’s five, they still fell 8-7 on Sunday in Morden. Kelsey Dyck led the Energy with two hits. Central Energy trailed early but took the lead in the top of the sixth. Lindsay French grounded out, scoring three runs, to give Central the lead, 7-6. The Terminators scored on a passed ball, which helped Smitty's tie the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth and go on to eventual victory. Dyck led things off in the circle for Central Energy. The left-handed pitcher gave up four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none.

Central once again out hit Smitty's 8 to 4, but again fell 8-7 in the final score. Hailey Baldwin led Central with two hits in three at bats. Energy fought back after falling by five runs in the first inning. The comeback fell just short though. They closed the gap thanks in part to a Baldwin home run. Collins Vrooman started the game for the Energy. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and seven runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out five and walking six. Brady Wiebe then pitched 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, and accumulating 3 strikeouts.

The U17 Central Energy team enjoyed an off weekend.
