Tory MLA Jack Penner is encouraged by the latest opinion poll which shows the PC party's popularity growing.

The latest survey by Probe Research shows the Tories with 43% support from the electorate compared to the NDP's 38%.

Penner says those results are partly a reflection of the Doer Government broken promises and inaction on a variety of issues.

He says cost overruns on the Winnipeg Floodway Expansion and the disrepair of roads in the province are taking a toll on the Doer Government.

The Probe Research survey shows Tory support in rural areas has risen to 52% while the NDP have slipped to 31%.
